Welcome to the Lions Club of London Seven Kings

Lions Club President

My Fellow Lions, Respected Elders, Ladies and Gentlemen

On behalf of my Fellow Members, my wife Jaishree and I, are delighted and indeed privileged to welcome you all to The Lions Club of London Seven Kings, Diwali Celebrations. Diwali, a time to be joyous heralding a new beginning, a commitment to family values, representing love, wisdom and forgiveness.

Your attendance and support this evening, gives my Fellow Members & I great satisfaction in being part of our club in the Lions family, by serving our community’s for the betterment of mankind.

Service to the community is the cornerstone of our being. This year we have seen many life time events, such as the Diamond Jubilee, the Olympics & off course the Paralympics. These events brought an uplifting feeling to the nation, not only locally but all over the world. One aspect that really stood out is that of volunteers ‘The Games Makers’. Volunteers all-over have stated what an enriching feeling it was! It is this same feeling that we as Lions members, get from of making things happen for our fellow mankind.

With that inspirational feeling, we have this year helped numerous worthy and deserving causes, some by providing our time, others by providing well needed funds. For instance last year you helped in raising funds for a Nursery in Vrindavan managed by Gift of Hope, for children who needed caring by providing the fit out in the amount of c.£10,000. Whilst earlier this year we were approached by Newbridge School in Barley Lane, a special needs school, to help towards the purchase of a specially adapted new minibus, we supported by donating £6,250 towards it. In September Lion Dinesh organised our charity walk with a barbeque, raising funds for Alzheimer’s, Blindness, Cancer & Diabetes. Other events such as Holi Masti, a colourful & fun filled family event allows our children to get involved! These are just a few of the amazing works the club endeavours to do.

This year we are looking to raise funds for Eye Camps in Kericho Kenya, as well as supporting other worthy causes both locally and abroad. We feel that if we can provide such camps to assist in regaining of one’s eye sight, it would help one get the dignity and self confidence back.

On the back of the eye camps we are also launching the service of collecting old glasses; to be sent to developing area’s, in many cases very remote where such help is not available. Thus please do contact us with any old glasses you may not want!

The club will also be embarking on supporting the environment, for the betterment of our children or in some cases grand children! We are looking at projects such as tree planting etc... So please come and get involved as this is your club as much as ours.

The Lions Club of London Seven Kings, are therefore proud to put together this wonderful Diwali event, with my sincere thanks going to the Lions in the organising committee, including Lion’s Rashmi Sanghani, Sandip Madhvani and Immediate Past President Lion Harishbhai Chauhan; with the support of management and staff of Kanchans Restaurant.

My thanks also go to our Past Previous President Lion Bob Jandoo & Lion Kalpesh Kapasiawala for putting together this brochure along with fellow members and friends for the content including, the supporters who have sponsored by placing their adverts within it.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the Club Members, their families, my wife Jaishree, daughter Amisha & Parents, without whose tireless support it would be difficult to do the things we do.

On a final note, I thank you all for joining us this evening to support the celebration of Diwali, being the ‘beam of hope over despair’. Wishing you all,  a wonderful year ahead.

Yours in Lionism.

Lion President
